debra photoDebra Sebring Bird is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After a 25-year career in human resources with the Department of the Interior, in Denver and Washington, DC, she took an early retirement to be at home with her children.

She has been an active volunteer for numerous community and educational organizations, including a stint as president of the Poplar Point Homeowners Association. Currently, as President of Friends of the Light House Shelter, she spends many hours each week planning and organizing fund-raising events.

She is a member of Encore Chorale, Anne Arundel Women Giving Together, and Mensa. Other interests include books, bridge, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family. She is the proud mom of two, a daughter attending Juniata College and a son at Indian Creek Upper School. She and her husband, Jim, have lived in Annapolis for nearly 25 years.

Creating Communities became part of her life when her son had an opportunity to work with Rob Levit as an intern for a school project. “I’ve seen nothing like Creating Communities anywhere else. It is a privilege to serve on the Board of Directors of a dynamic and growing organization.”
